FAQs
Here are some questions regarding our company.

OTHER QUESTIONS ASKED
1. What kind genres do you accept?
For a full list of the genres we accept, please refer to the general info page

2. What kind of books do you publish?
Unlike other companies, we will be producing children's books and light novels under the company. So even though the company's name is P2 Manga, we also publish children books (ex: books like Clifford the big red dog, Dr. Seuss, etc.)

3. Do you accept yaoi and yuri titles?
We do not accept yaoi/yuri titles. We originally had a poll that was begged upon the fans to see what route we should take. After getting all positive votes on the acceptance of yaoi/yuri titles no one submitted anything. Talk about a waste right? Well not really because we did at the last moment get a shounen-ai title that will possibly be published. So after getting this, the founder decided that we will have shounen-ai/ shojo-ai. Keep in mind that yaoi/yuri and shonen-/shojo-ai is different. Shounen-/Shojo-ai (boys/girls love) has softer elements than yaoi/yuri., but those genres are derivatives of yaoi and yuri.

4. You don't seem to be legit because you don't have "famous" Japanese titles under your company. Why?
There has been some controversy with people during our submission period, and among others discussing that we aren't legit because our titles aren't recognizable. The reason we do not have any Japanese manga under our company is due to the fact that we are just starting out and at the moment we are not looking to license any manga. The reason that our titles are not recognizable, is because we are publishing OELs (Original English language) mangas.  In the future when we become big, then we will consider licensing.

5. What is the difference between graphic novels and traditional light novels?
  • Graphic novels- A graphic novel /manga is a self contained story that uses a combination of text and artwork. A manga would go under these guidelines since it is basically art with words.
  • Light Novels- A novel is a lengthy form of writing in which the writer forms many plots and channels through out the story. Light novels is a style of Japanese novel primarily targeting junior high and high school students (young adult demographic).  Light novels contain less pictures than manga.
6. What is a vanity publisher and is your company considered that?
Oh no! Not at all. Vanity publishers charge you quite a fee to submit your book. Plus they will accept any book that come their way. That's why it's called a vanity publisher. You are basically paying to say "Hey I got published!" Now we're not trying to slander anyone, if that's what you want then go for it!

7. If someone submits a manga to you after submissions are closed and the story is really good, will you consider their submission?
No. We feel that it would be highly unfair to other artist that didnt get their submission in on time or those that wait patiently for the next submission to open.

8. I am from another country, but i would still like to submit. Is this possible?
Yes! Thats's the thing about P2 Manga. Anything is possible. Although we also accept OEL mangas, we are happy to also share stories from around the world. We only ask that it isnt published but another company seeing as we are not looking to license manga until we agree we are ready. We also ask that it is in English. We do not have any positions open for translators so you will have to provide yourself with one (preferably a friend^^)

More questions will derive as we get new clientèle

MOST IMPORTANT
1. What kind of company is P2 Manga?
P2 Manga is a company that is completely devoted to helping not only beginner manga artist but pro artist that have felt that their art was not good enough to be published. This does not mean that we accept those with beautiful art. You do not have to be at "pro level" to be published and we think that;s what some companies forget. All you need is a good story and strong confidence about yourself and in your art.

2. If I/we were to publish with you, do you own my rights and if not, to what extent?
No. My company doesn't take your copyrights from you the author/artist. You keep your rights to your works, we just sell your books. In the future, we'd like to use some of your designs to put in our store, but only with your permission

3. Will my books be in stores?
Yes. Your books will be in online stores as well as book stores, but that is up to the buyers if they will accept the books in their stores.

4. Can you guarantee the success of my book?
As much as I would love to,. No. Sadly I cannot guarantee the success of any book in my company, and that goes with any other publishing company. We can only get your book out there. Its up to the book to sell itself on its content. So if you have good story background and artwork that you are confident about then it should be no problem for your book to sell and again this goes with any publishing company.

5. Will publishing my book make me rich?
As much as I wish this were true, sadly no. Publishing is something that takes time and dedication and can be a very slow process. So, no. Publishing is not the route you should take if you believe it will make you an instant success.

6. What if I can't draw, but I have a great story? What about if I don't have a story, but I cant draw?
Yes. If you are a writer and can't draw, but have a friend that can, then by all means submit.  If you are submitting a group submission then go to the submissions page and follow the rules for submissions. No, at this time we do not accept artist submissions. We won't be able to pay you up front, only by a  pay by sale basis. We will let you all know when we will be accepting artist submissions.

7. My friend and I are submitting a artist/ writer submission. Can we submit?
Yes. If you are a writer and can't draw, but have a friend that can, then by all means submit.  If you are submitting a group submission then go to the submissions page and follow the rules for submissions.

8. Do we have to pay you in order to submit or publish with you?
No. Submitting with us is free. Just follow the rules on the submission page.

9. We have an artist team, but we are not able to pay them. Are you going to cover our cost in helping us pay the artist?
No. I am terribly sorry but this is not how we operate. We are not the ones that need the artists help in telling the stories. This is a means of being responsible and understanding how teamwork works. Most artist expect to be paid and its a waste of their time if you dont have the sufficient funds to pay them to produce the book. We already spend time and money paying to print your books.

10. I am a professional artist and I need money. Will you cover that?
No! We will not do this. We can not cover your expenses and we will tell you why. Your art could be professional but if the story doesnt match up to par with the art then guess what... no sales. Even if your art is good and story is good and we pay you its the same. The worse part would be that you decide "I dont want to publish you anymore. You dont own my rights so why should I?" This would be a huge problem for us. We spend all this time and money and you drop us. Manga is a 50-50 gamble and we can not take that risk with some artists.
